Ron Beals. He is 78 years young and still playing streetball on the courts of Venice Beach, CA. If you have been to any pickup games in Venice within the last 45 years, then you have seen him there. He is a local legend who is a motivation to us all. He keeps the legend of Venice Courts alive and is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Interesting Facts:
- Started his career in 1960 in Chicago at Loyola University
- One of the pioneers of the Jump Shot
- Grew up playing against Sweet Water Clifton and Wilt Chamberlain
- Toured the world playing basketball with the Harlem Clowns
- Playing on courts of Venice Beach since the 70’s
- Starred in the movie “White Men Can’t Jump” (old guy in purple spandex shorts)
- His sister is famous actress Jennifer Beals (Flashdance, L-Word, etc.)
- Born a Vegetarian and has never eaten meat a day in his life

After winning numerous MVP awards on the courts of Venice Beach, he has made a name for himself by scoring 20 points on fools like it was nothing. He’s proved he can play with the best at any height. “Don’t believe in the height, believe in the hype”!

So… the Miami Spice of the Bikini Basketball League ripped off the Seattle SuperSonics logo. The Miami Spice logo is obviously not original but it’s not like the Sonics need a logo. The issue is, it’s an exact replica, which means there was no effort put into the logo at all. Even worse than that, those are Miami Heat colors. Are we just becoming a watered down society full of swagga jackers and biters?
Well.. We probably are! But in the meantime, enjoy these photos of the girls from the Bikini Basketball League!
