This isn’t the first time Wes Welker’s gaff got him into hot water. Remember the “best foot forward” comment before the Jets game when he hinted at Rex Ryan’s foot fetish. This time, Welker’s comment was personal. “kind of nice to stick it in Bill’s face every once in a while.” – Wes Welker.
Comcast SportsNet was asking Welker about the 13 receptions he had against the Denver Broncos Sunday afternoon, and that’s the comment Welker decides to make. Now Welker is batting cleanup with is comments and saying it was a joke. The only problem is, Bill Belichick is not known for being a jokester so, “sticking it in Bill’s face” doesn’t go over to well with the Patriots way. Is Wes Welker a good receiver? Yes. Would he be as good if he was in Oakland and had Carson Palmer throwing to him? Not even close. I would suggest Welker be careful in the future, but there is no future for him in New England after this season. There are two things the Patriots don’t like to do. Overpay players, and deal with diva receivers. While Welker has proven to be a reliable and good receiver for the Patriots, there is someone else waiting to fill his shoes. Unlike Brady, Wes Welker’s come a dime a dozen.
